Which is better?

Biodegradable

A biodegradable package is made of materials that break down naturally without leaving harmful by-products. Some examples include biodegradable plastic, bioplastic and cardboard. Since biodegradable packaging is made from natural materials, we still rely on farming and industry for raw materials.

Recycling

Recycling involves a process of repurposing used goods into new and usable goods. Aside from reducing the amount of waste in our landfills and oceans, recycling cuts down on energy and resources required to produce new products.

Some will advocate for biodegradable and others will champion 100% recycled.

We want to maximise our efforts towards environmental sustainability and therefore let you, our customer choose what works best in your situation.

All our nuts, grains, seeds, pulses, dried fruit and snacks are now packed in 100% recyclable packaging. The plastic packaging is Plastic 5 and is made of one resin only, this makes it 100 percent recyclable in the Western Cape recycling system. You can make sure you place all the packaging in your recycling bags provided by the city, or you are welcome to return it to us and we will make sure it gets to the recycling depot.

If you prefer biodegradable packaging, you can still choose to have your order of nuts, grains, seeds, pulses and dried fruit packaged in biodegradable packaging. As this is an added service we are now asking for a R50 flat fee per order. Please add the option to your cart .
